This library of youth soccer defending drills develops 1v1 technique, positioning, and pressing coordination for youth players from U9 through U16.

Every Defending drill

  • 1v1 Defending — U9-U16, 15 min. 20x15 yd channel with a small goal at each end.
  • Shadow Defending — U10-U16, 10 min. Pairs in a 10x10 yd square. Attacker with ball, defender without.
  • Press and Recover — U11-U16, 15 min. 2v2 in a 20x20 yd grid.
